Sharon Levy is the president of Dovetail Productions, producing theater, film and music and developing new work. www.dovetail-productions.com.
She is producer for Mabou Mines DollHouse which has toured worldwide since 2004 and was filmed for Arte French television. She is also producer for Lee Breuer and Bob Telson’s The Gospel at Colonus which has continued to tour in the US and internationally since it appeared on Broadway in 1987, most recently at the Herod Atticus Theater in Athens, the Vienna Festival and at Harlem’s Apollo Theater. She was General Manager for Bagdad Café – The Musical based on the Percy Adlon film which had its world premiere in Barcelona in 2004 and subsequently toured Germany and France featuring a score by Telson composer of the Academy Award-nominated theme song Calling You, from the film.
Ms Levy is co-producer for the film The Lilliput, www.thelilliputmovie.com with writer and director Minna Zielonka-Packer, Fulbright scholar in Lodz, Poland 2008.
Previous work includes The Works, a 12-hour music marathon featuring chamber, jazz, electronic, and art songs produced for Meet The Composer at Minneapolis’ Southern Theater; the jazz opera Lulu Noire for the Spoleto Festival USA and The American Music Theater Festival; and the Tribute to King Oliver concert for the 1996 Olympics. She was also manager to trumpeter Jon Faddis and his sextet, presenting the legacy of Dizzy Gillespie. Levy has worked with the British Theatre of the Deaf, with Australian director Nigel Triffit (Tap Dogs), in Atlanta for Robert Altman’s HBO series Tanner ’88 and at the Alliance Theatre and the Theatrical Outfit where as Producing Director throughout the 1980’s she produced more than 40 plays and musicals.
Levy has a degree in theater from the Flinders University of South Australia. She has twice received awards from The National Endowment for the Arts.
